Tidelands Community Hospice is About More Than Hospice

Tidelands Community Hospice, your community’s not-for-profit hospice, is about much more than providing quality compassionate hospice care to patients and their families wherever they live, be it their home, a nursing home or an assisted living facility.

Founded through the grassroots efforts of community volunteers, Tidelands Community Hospice received licensure in March 1985, as one of the first not-for-profit hospices in South Carolina and admitted its first patient in April 1985.

Since its inception over thirty years ago, Tidelands Community Hospice, has been about providing the hospice care, giving back to those communities, serving as an end of life resource for those communities, always striving to better meet the needs of those it serves and being part of the communities it serves in Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg counties.

Tidelands Community Hospice’s community outreach programs and bereavement support services are available at no fee to everyone in the community, not just to their hospice patients and families.

Tidelands Community Hospice’s community outreach programs provide information, support, and comfort:

Caregivers Coffee is held quarterly in Georgetown and Horry counties to provide caregivers with information, support, and comfort.

Service of Remembrance, a night of hope, music and light, is open to all in the community as an opportunity for them to celebrate and remember loved ones who are no longer with us.

Getting Together are informational presentations by the Tidelands Community Hospice staff. These presentations are tailored to meet the needs of a group, church or organization. Topics range from “Make Your Wishes Known” to “Getting the Conversation Started” to “Hospice Care and Services”.

Tidelands Community Hospice understands that the death of loved one is life changing and each individual’s journey of grief is different. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and there is no time limit. Tidelands Community Hospice’s bereavement support services are:

Open to all adults and children, not just hospice families, in our community who are grieving the loss of a loved one. There is no fee and programs can be tailored to meet each group’s needs.

Bereavement support groups are held bi-monthly in five locations within Georgetown and Horry counties.

School grief counseling is available by Tidelands Hospice staff following the loss of a student or teacher.

Opportunities to work with other community organizations in the event of natural disasters and other tragedies.

Thanks to over thirty years of community support and the work of Tidelands Community Hospice Foundation, Tidelands Hospice is about much more than providing hospice care to all who are need, regardless of their ability to pay or life’s situation,” says Barriedel Llorens, the foundation director. “We are about being a part of the community, giving back to the community, serving the community and being available to those in the community who are in need.”
